Unplayable and grandiose
Yaara Tal (piano)
Andreas Groethuysen (piano)
Deficiency lead to one of the most well-made arrangements of music from Johann Sebastian Bach. Throughout the 19th century Bach’s ›Goldberg Variations‹ were considered unplayable, having been written for a harpsichord with two keyboards, ›an instrument that is long unknown‹, as avowed Bach enthusiasts Joseph Rheinberger and Max Reger justified their transcriptions. Their goal: make musicians and audiences acquainted and familiar with this gem. Yaara Tal and Andreas Groethuysen, one of the world leading piano duos, combine Bach’s sometimes intimate, sometimes magnificent, sometimes humorous variations over a richly ornamented baroque Aria with Joseph Haydn’s intimate ›Seven Last Words of Christ‹. This meditation on an instrumental journey of life will inspire slowing down, joy, refreshment and inner peace.
