It’s the sparkling highlight and crowning finish to every Brühler Schlosskonzerte season: the grand fireworks in the palace park at Schloss Augustusburg, accompanied by a live orchestra. This year the best and grandest work imaginable for such an occasion will ring out once more: George Friedrich Handel’s hit of the millennium Music for the Royal Fireworks, composed in January 1749 for a kingly fireworks display over the Thames in London. Gerhard Peters will conduct the Neues Rheinische Kammerorchester, long one of the true greats in Cologne’s culture of music.
